THE ORGANIZATION DIRECTORS
Professor ION MACARENCO was born in 1958 in Sulina, Romania. He graduated from ANEFS in 1985. Mr. Macarenco has played table tennis professionally for over 60 years and has competed in various leagues across Romania. Notably, he achieved promotion to Division A of the Romanian league with his team, where he was a consistent and dedicated player for over a decade.
In 2008, he founded his own table tennis club, Table Tennis Team Bucharest (commonly known as TTT Bucharest), where he served as both head coach and player, stepping in as a competitor whenever the team needed him. In 2010, the club was promoted to Division B, narrowly missing promotion to Division A on multiple occasions.
One of the most memorable moments in the club’s history was when Professor Macarenco played a match alongside his two sons, Mario and Andrei, setting an unexpected and cherished record for the team.
In the 2022/23 season, TTT Bucharest finally achieved promotion to Division A, fulfilling one of Professor Macarenco’s lifelong dreams.
MURAT ERİŞ was born in 1977 in Istanbul, Türkiye. He graduated from the Architecture Academy of Yıldız Technical University. His professional career extends beyond architecture, as he has achieved remarkable success in the field of table tennis.
Eriş began playing table tennis at the age of seven. Over the years, he earned numerous accolades in Türkiye, securing titles and podium finishes in various categories, including singles, doubles, mixed doubles, and team events at the Türkiye Championships. Notably, he was a member of the Fenerbahçe Sports Club team that reached the final of the ETTU Cup in 2008.
His achievements on the international stage are equally impressive. In 2023, Eriş reached the pinnacle of his career in veteran table tennis, securing the following distinctions:
- World Number 3 in singles and World Number 2 in doubles at the Oman World Veterans Championships in 2023.
- European Number 3 in doubles at the European Veterans Championships in Norway in 2023.
Eriş continues to actively compete in veteran championships and Romanian leagues, showcasing his enduring dedication and passion for the sport.
In addition to his athletic pursuits, Murat Eriş has built a successful career in construction. For the past five years, he has worked as a Project Manager in Romania. Concurrently, he has taken on leadership roles within the table tennis community, serving as a member of the Turkish Table Tennis Federation Board and as the General Secretary of the Antalya International Veterans Table Tennis Tournament.
Murat Eriş exemplifies a unique blend of professional excellence and athletic achievement, continuing to inspire in both fields.
ANDREI MACARENCO was born in 2001 in Bucharest, Romania. He graduated from the Faculty of Business Administration (FABIZ) at ASE Bucharest. Andrei began playing table tennis at the age of 12 and has competed in various leagues across Romania.
Since 2015, Andrei has been a member of the senior team at TTT Bucharest, contributing significantly to the club’s success. Notably, he was part of the team that achieved promotion to Division A during the 2022/23 season.
Currently, Andrei actively competes in Romania’s Division A while also dedicating his time to coaching players of all ages, sharing his passion and expertise in the sport.
